Building a Future-Ready IT Infrastructure
Business situation
In the eastern half of the United States, a leading IT support company and a top regional healthcare network recognized the need to modernize their IT infrastructure to keep pace with how technology is used for business today—and tomorrow.
However, effective IT modernization involves more than just upgrading platforms or enhancing access. Organizations must rethink how they operate and identify new ways to improve efficiency, security, and scalability. Achieving that level of strategic thinking requires a unique skillset—and both companies sought an experienced partner who could develop hybrid infrastructure solutions that work in the present while being built for the future.
Considerations
NRI implemented a five-year modernization plan to upgrade the company’s call center system, starting with foundational infrastructure deployment on the DWDM Ring with Cisco Voice Standard. Over the next few years, the platform replaced the existing core phone system, migrating all phone sets and features across five campus locations, remote sites, and remote users. By 2024, the infrastructure was fully modernized to support 18,000 users and 600+ call center agents, ensuring seamless communication and scalability.
NRI initiated a five-year infrastructure modernization plan for the healthcare network, focusing on installing Cisco Catalyst Access Switches, DNA Controllers, and SD-WAN across multiple hospital locations. This ongoing initiative also includes refreshing edge routing, network segmentation firewalls, and wireless systems to maintain security and ensure the infrastructure is future-ready.
NRI designed the infrastructure with user experience in mind, ensuring secure and seamless access to information—whether on-premises or in the cloud. We also communicated the infrastructure strategy upstream to keep leadership aligned with the project’s trajectory, enabling informed planning, budgeting, and long-term maintenance.
